Last month Vince Staples released his Prima Donna EP. As Pitchfork’s Mehan Jayasuriya puts it “[Staples] draws you in with vital music, then hits you with the ugly reality.” Soon after the release of his album, Staples released a 9 minute music video for his album, featuring snippets of the albums songs. The video, like the album, showcases Staples dealing with his growing profile and the inherent contradictions that come with his success. I’m a big advocate of music telling a audio story, this really epitomizes that idea.
